Ear Surgery Before & After.

Ear surgery, also known as otoplasty, sets prominent ears back closer to the head and/or reduces the size of large ears. This procedure is most often performed on children between the ages of 4 and 14 and may be covered by insurance. It can also be performed on older children and adults. The surgery typically takes approximately two hours. For young children, general anesthesia is usually used. For older children or adults, general or local anesthesia with sedation is employed. It is usually an outpatient procedure.
