Neck Lift Dubai Neck Contouring and Platysma Tightening
A neck lift improves selected loose neck skin, platysma bands and jawline definition through an anatomy-based surgical plan. Depending on the findings, treatment may include cervicoplasty, platysmaplasty, submental liposuction or a combined facelift. Dr. Bouraoui Kotti assesses candidacy, alternatives, risks and recovery individually during consultation in Dubai.

Neck Lift Procedure Overview and Details
Risks / Benefits
What are the potential benefits of a neck lift?
- Surgery may improve neck contour, reduce selected bands and provide a more defined transition between the jawline and neck.
- Changes may last years, but results vary with anatomy and healing.
- Exact symmetry, a specific contour and a particular duration cannot be guaranteed.
What are the risks or complications of a neck lift?
- Bleeding or haematoma and fluid collection
- Infection, delayed healing and skin injury
- Visible scars or temporary hair loss near incisions
- Altered sensation, pain or nerve injury
- Asymmetry, contour irregularity or dissatisfaction
- Blood clots and anaesthesia-related complications
- Possible revision surgery
- Individual risks and alternatives must be discussed before consent.
What a Neck Lift Can Address
- A neck lift may address loose skin, visible platysma bands and selected excess fat beneath the chin.
- The platysma is a thin sheet of muscle extending from the upper chest to the lower face.
- Treatment cannot stop ageing, guarantee a particular jawline or correct every concern above the jawline.
Who May Consider a Neck Lift
- Adults with neck laxity after ageing or weight loss may consider assessment.
- Health, skin elasticity, nicotine exposure, previous surgery and realistic expectations influence suitability.
- Localized fat with good skin elasticity may need a different approach; no treatment is also an option.
Types of Neck Lift and Contouring
- Cervicoplasty: Removes or redrapes selected excess skin; it does not alone repair muscle bands.
- Platysmaplasty: Tightens or repositions selected platysma tissues when indicated.
- Submental liposuction: Addresses selected fat beneath the chin but does not remove substantial loose skin.
- Combined face and neck lift: May be considered when jowls and lower-face descent extend above the jawline.
- Injectables and energy-based treatments may help selected mild concerns, but do not reproduce surgical skin removal or muscle repair.

Neck Lift (Cervicoplasty and Platysmaplasty) Recovery and Outlook
Preparing for a Neck Lift
- Discuss your goals, medical history, previous treatments, allergies, medicines and supplements.
- Follow individualized instructions about nicotine, alcohol, fasting and medicines. Do not stop prescribed treatment without medical advice.
- Arrange transport home and support after sedation or general anaesthesia.
What Happens During a Neck Lift?
General anaesthesia or sedation with local anaesthesia may be used. Incisions are usually placed around the ears and, when needed, beneath the chin. The surgeon may reposition supporting tissues, tighten the platysma, address selected fat and remove excess skin before closing the incisions. The combination depends on anatomy; not every patient needs every component.
Aftercare
Swelling, bruising and altered sensation are common early in recovery. Tightness can persist for several months. Temporary drains may be used. Keep your head elevated and follow the operating team's instructions for wound care, dressings, activity and follow-up. Avoid heavy lifting and excessive neck turning until cleared. Do not apply ice directly to the neck unless your surgeon specifically instructs you to do so.
Return to work, driving and exercise depends on the operation and healing. Results may last years, but ageing continues and no duration or particular contour can be guaranteed. Skin quality, sun exposure, smoking and weight changes affect the outlook.
When to Call the Doctor
Contact the clinical team promptly for unexpected bleeding, increasing pain, fever, chills, wound changes or unusual arm or leg swelling. Rapidly expanding neck swelling, breathing difficulty or chest pain requires emergency assessment rather than waiting for an online reply.
